As Kurt ‘n Kall sat round the table<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Telling of tales, story and fable<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Christmas to be, present and past<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

This tale is told, this story cast<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Of the oft related night upon the strip<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

When Roy Clark as Santa, cracked his whip<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

So now my children sit, listen and hear<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Not of the midnight ride of Paul Revere<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

But rather a delightful and fanciful tale<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Of an almost Christmas that ought to be<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

The night that Branson when into history.<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Twas the night before Christmas and all round the town<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Not a singer was stirring, not even Bandy the Clown.<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Andy’s sock was hung by the chimney with care<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

In hopes that Ann Margaret would soon be there.<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

The ticket masters were nestled all snug in their beds<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

While visions of filled theaters danced in their heads.<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Anne in her ‘kerchief and Jim in his cap<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

The Staffords were settled, for a long winter’s nap.<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

When out on the strip there arose such a clatter<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Jimmy Osmond asked the brothers, what was the matter?<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Up to the strip, I drove like a flash<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

It sounded like a party, a fete, no, a bash<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Elves dancing on shiny, new-fallen snow<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Gave gaiety to the lights and neons aglow.<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

When what to my sleep swollen eyes should appear<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Roy Clark, a sleigh and eight tiny reindeer.<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Roy, as a driver was lively and quick<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

I knew in a moment, he must be St. Nick.<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

More rapid than tourists driving the strip<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

He yelled, cajoled and cracked the whip.<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Now Delene, Now Dalena<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

I get them confused<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Now Denny, now Dino<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

At the Grand Palace too<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

On Bill, on Joe, on Dan and Gail<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Too many Lennons, too many, too many to know<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Upward, onward and faster we go.<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Onward, onward we go through the snow<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Delivering presents above and below.<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

As the winds swirled the flakes<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

And the drifts mounted high<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

The Branson reindeer verily flew through the sky<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

While Delene and Dalena, were leading the pack<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Roy, as St. Nick, was still in the back<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

The sleigh was full of all sorts of candy<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Toys, sleds, Barbies and everything dandy.<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

At each house where they stopped to leave loot<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Roy kept complaining of soot on his suit.<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Roy had a nice suit of sequins, stitching and stone<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

With a banjo on one arm and toys in his sack<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

The man was a sight that stood out alone.<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

He sang about a Greyhound and someone gone.<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

As he crooned his song he flashed a big smile<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

That thawed the snow, what a look of beguile.<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old Roy<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

No fancy diet for this country boy.<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

As he tugged, pulled and handled the sack<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

The banjo was always strapped on his back.<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Then the silence was broken by a ring of his cell<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

As Paul Harris, the loudest elf in the dell<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Said Santa, St. Nick, no, I guess it is Roy<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

You are late for your date with Kurt ‘n Kall<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

They are waiting in the wings for your wisdom in words<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Tell them now, tell them much, and please tell them all.<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

He hustled and bustled and made the snow fly<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

As he finished the homes in Branson on nigh<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

As he cracked the whip , the Branson reindeer flew<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Through the sky, to the route they so well knew<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

So contrary to lore that has been through the ages<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Through Clement Clarke Moore as he wrote many pages<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

The last words of Santa as he left Branson out of sight<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Was not, Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

The last words, as far as anyone could tell<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Was, “The traffic, the shows, gee it was swell.”<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

As we tell of this tale, so delightful and true<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Branson isdraped in red, white and blue<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Larry Gatlin and the Brothers are now in Iraq<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Singing to our troops as they guard us in mass<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

To let them know that we will welcome them back<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

While we sit snug with our families round the table<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Reading the story of Christ, born in a stable.<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

We would do good to pause and to think<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Of the many chairs that will be empty this year<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

We hope that Iraq will be found and gave cheer<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

By Roy (oops!) Santa and his eight tiny reindeer.<\/FONT><\/P>

So after this Branson tale is told<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

We sit in warmth keeping in from the cold<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Lady Kall and myself would like to wish<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Each and every one who reads this story<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

To remember the reason, the season and glory<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

Of the child who was born to the world in a manger<\/FONT><\/P>
\n

So that in heaven you would be no stranger.<\/FONT><\/P>
\n
